A red flag warning issued by the National Weather Service was expanded Saturday morning to include portions of nearby Solano County and San Joaquin County.

A vegetation fire broke out Saturday morning in the unincorporated Sonoma County area of Geyserville. Crews from Cal Fire’s Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit responded to the fire west of Lake Sonoma at about 7:30 a.m., according to Cal Fire.

The fire had grown to about 2 acres as of that time and was burning on a ridge in a remote area near Stewarts Point-Skaggs Springs Road and Tomb Creek Road. A red flag warning issued by the National Weather Service was expanded Saturday morning to include portions of nearby Solano County and San Joaquin County.

A red flag warning is issued when weather conditions are prone to fires, with high winds and dry conditions from low humidity in the forecast. It is active through Monday. Winds are forecast to be between 20-30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph in some places, including in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta area. PG&E announced potential Public Safety Power Shutoffs during the red flag warning, but no precautionary shutoffs were reported by the utility as of Saturday morning.

PG&E said shutoffs in Sonoma County and several other neighboring counties were possible on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
