Nicolas Cage continues to surprise and delight fans Down Under as he films his new movie, The Surfer.
Hollywood star Nicolas Cage phoned into an Aussie telethon to donate to children’s charities as he films a blockbuster in WA.The Hollywood star is currently filming the thriller in Yallingup, Western Australia, but that did not stop him from pausing on preparations to make a very special phone call over the weekend during Channel 7’s Telethon benefiting Aussie children’s charities.
Cage, 59, shocked presenter Rick Ardon when he phoned in from the remote set to the Telethon NRMA Call Centre in Perth to pledge a $5000 cash donation. “I’d love to be with you right now but I am filming down south,” Cage said in a voicemail, aired for viewers to hear. “I’d like to ask you to please donate to Telethon and help some children, maybe save some children’s lives.”Ardon was the one to reveal Cage’s generous donation on camera.Cage was seen grocery shopping with Riko in the small town of Busselton where he was spotted pushing a trolley outside a Woolworths supermarket. The actor’s cart was filled to the brim with everyday items such as potatoes, paper towels and nappies.

Picture: Ghosty / BACKGRIDThey also made a pit stop at local Asian store Food of Asia, where they reportedly bought $400 worth of goods, including Japanese sauces, kimchi and eggs.Although filming on Cage’s new movie is currently running two weeks behind schedule, but production is well underway on the film.
