Cagayan De Oro City logs 28th COVID19 case in returning resident from Cebu City

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – A 22-year old male resident here tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 after returning home from Cebu City on June 14. He remains asymptomatic and was immediately brought to the city isolation facility for the mandatory 14-day quarantine period.

The City Health Office is currently conducting contact tracing, covering about 80 co-passengers of the patient. They traveled by commercial boat. “We were able to identify four close contacts of the patients because they shared the same cabin inside the ship,” said CHO epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya.

Meanwhile, another COVID-19 patient at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center was discharged on Wednesday afternoon after her repeat swab test showed negative result. “We will label this patient as recovered from the COVID-19 infection,” said NMMC liaison officer Dr. Bernard Julius Rocha. Out of the 28 COVID-19 cases in Cagayan de Oro City, 12 are considered active as 10 patients have recovered while 6 succumbed to the disease.
