It was a rollercoaster when they first opened
It was a rollercoaster when Jamie Battersby opened the doors of his cafe No. 18 Coffee and Eatery as Covid was rife and the rules kept changing by the week. But nearly two years on his perseverance paid off after being named the best cafe in Nottinghamshire at England's Business Awards.
He said: "We opened and then we had lockdown again so it was pretty quiet but since May last year when we could have people sitting back in again it has just progressively got busier and busier. There isn't really a day now when we can say it will be quiet. It's non-stop all the time." He said: "The sandwiches can be gluten-free, we can make them on gluten-free bread, the same with paninis, bar a couple of fillings. We tend to have ten different cakes on display and four or five are usually gluten-free. Most things can be done gluten-free.
