One of them made us go back for more, but for the wrong reasons
With Easter around the corner, we decided to put some supermarket hot chocolates to the test against market leader Cadbury.
Steve Graves said: "Chocolatey aroma, initially watery appearance matched by an insipid taste. Very far from luxurious. Didn't finish it." 1/5 Emily Sleight said: "I absolutely love hot chocolate, and will drink it anytime of year even if it’s warm! This particular hot chocolate smelt quite faint, and after taking a sip I wasn’t very impressed.
Ryan said: "This was darker in colour, which could suggest it would be the gourmet side. However, the flavour was deeply disappointing as it was sickly sweet in flavour and did not boast any of the chocolate of cocoa taste notes." 1/5 The Lidl hot chocolate brand Bellarom also divided some of our reviewers with it gaining four out of five from some and as low as two from others.
Ryan said: "This was back to the flavour you would expect from a hot chocolate and was a delightful balance of sweet, chocolate and creamy notes." 3/5 And this was the winner for Rory, he said: "This was surprisingly good, I really enjoyed it. It had a good colour, great smell, I think it was almost the same as the Cadbury's hot chocolate. A great alternative." 5/5
