First race as a gelding pays off for 3-year-old
There have been some changes to Team Cabo Spirit since the 3-year-old son of Pioneerof the Nile ran second in a $100,000 allowance race on June 4 at Santa Anita.But Cabo Spirit is not quite the horse he was.

American Theorem won the Grade I Bing Crosby Stakes on July 30. “He got kinda far back, but Joe rode him patiently and nicely and then made a move on the far turn sand Cabo Spirit just exploded,” he said.“I really wasn’t where I wanted to be going into the first turn,” said Bravo, who has 10 wins in just 40 starts this meeting to rank fourth in the jockey standings. “And he made a big move on his own on the far turn. In the stretch, it was all him.”
