PUTRAJAYA: The Cabinet is committed to the country despite its members' different political backgrounds, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister said at the monthly Prime Minister's Department gathering here on Tuesday that his"friends" in the Cabinet had given their cooperation so far, even those who had"history" with him.

"We are working well together, even though we have 'history', clashes in ideas and had major fights especially between me and the deputy prime minister on my right," he laughed, referring to Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. He said the good working relationship could not be denied, adding there was a unity in commitment among all to bring greater progress to the country.

Anwar's party PKR and Ahmad Zahid's Umno have been each other's political nemesis for years until after the 15th General Election.
