The killing of the 59-year-old driver marked the 8th homicide of the year, compared to three at this time last year.
A 59-year-yold cab driver was fatally shot inside his van Sunday night while parked in front of the train station in downtown Harrisburg, police said during a news conference Monday.
Wealand called it a “targeted” killing meaning it was not a random act of violence. But he said it was early in the investigation and he had “no idea what the motive was in this crime,” at this time. The killing was the eighth homicide of the year so far, compared to three at the same time last year. As of Monday, city detectives had filed charges in three out of the eight killings so far this year, leaving five killings unsolved.
Police investigated three nonfatal shootings on Saturday that hospitalized one man. Police would not say whether there were any connections among the shootings or shootings from weeks prior. Here are the details released by city officials:
