C.J. Stroud finishes third in this year’s Heisman race, becoming the third Ohio State player ever to finish in the top four of Heisman voting twice.
For the second year in a row, C.J. Stroud made it to New York as a Heisman Trophy finalist but watched someone else lift the trophy.race in 2021, Stroud finished third in this year’s Heisman race, behind USC quarterback Caleb Williams and TCU quarterback Max Duggan.
Stroud, who earned his second straight trip to New York after completing 66.2 percent of his passing attempts for 3,340 yards and 37 touchdowns for an FBS-best passer rating of 176.25 during the regular season, received 37 first-place votes, 119 second-place votes and 190 third-place votes. All of the top six and eight of the top 10 players in this year’s Heisman balloting were quarterbacks. The only non-quarterbacks to finish in the top 10 of this year’s Heisman vote are Michigan running back Blake Corum and Texas running back Bijan Robinson .
