Researchers said the populations they’re studying have been almost entirely left out of current Alzheimer’s research and will deepen knowledge of the disease.

Researchers held a health fair for a Pacific Islander congregation at a campsite in Willow. The aim was to connect with and collect data from elders for Alzheimer’s research in understudied populations.

Dr. Justina Tavana, a lead researcher who was raised in Samoa, said the populations they’re studying have been almost entirely left out of current Alzheimer’s research.
