A persistent 'burning smell' which has been wreaking havoc for residents of one Lancashire town is now under investigation by the Environment Agency.
Locals of Great Harwood, in the district of Hyndburn, have noticed a 'burning smell' in their town for a number of years. Some residents have even said that the smell has been around the area for over 10 years. According to some, the source of the smell has been due to fires from businesses in the area. They say it's a "persistent problem" with the "glow of the fire" visible on certain days.When LancsLive contacted the Environment Agency for further information, the agency confirmed that they had received reports of the smells and are currently investigating the problem. A spokesperson said: “We have received reports of burning in Great Harwood.
