Plane-spotters watched as the A330 jet declared an emergency
Plane spotters claimed they saw "a puff of smoke" before smelling "burning" during a dramatic emergency landing at Manchester Airport.
The captain of the Airbus A330, which can carry up to 277 passengers, had to abort the initial landing attempt, opting for a 'go-around'. Reports indicate that the pilot shut down the engines, and the plane remained stationary for an additional 24 minutes. A decision was made to tow the jet to the terminal stand using a tug, reports the Manchester Evening News. Another onlooker, Liam Smith revealed to the Liverpool Echo about seeing six fire engines rushing to the scene, noticing a 'burning' smell after the aircraft landed.
