Burning metal, hay brings dozens of fire crews to central Pa. barn: officials
A hay barn caught fire in Reading Township, Adams County, on Sept. 9, 2022. A fire at a hay barn in Adams County brought in dozens of first responders on Friday evening, according to officials.
The fire was reported around 5 p.m. on Round Hill Road in Reading Township, according to Adams County Dispatch logs. United Hook and Ladder Fire Chief Steve Rabine told PennLive that the metal barn is 300 feet long, 75 feet wide, and packed with hay. Because of the type of materials involved in the fire, Rabine said all crews can do is continue to wet down the building to keep it contained.Rabine said no people were in the barn when the fire broke out, and no injuries were reported. No cause had been determined as of Friday evening.
