A burglar damaged the SS United States in Philadelphia just days after a tentative deal was reached to turn it into an artificial reef, police saidOn Thursday, around noon, police responded to a report of a burglary on the Pier 80 SS United States Ship along the 2200 block of Christopher Columbus Boulevard.Police said a burglar or burglars stole several batteries and tools, causing damage to the property. No arrests have been made and police have not released information on any suspects.
A judge ruled that the conversancy that maintains the S.S. United States on the Delaware River and the landlord where the ship is held must sit down for a mediation to resolve their rent disagreement. NBC10's Brian Sheehan has the latest on the battle over the historic ocean liner.
