The Bureau of Meteorology has formally declared Australia has entered El Nino. El Nino is one extreme end of a Pacific Ocean climate driver which leads to less rainfall near Australia. Australia has been on bushfire alert following the BOM’s confirmation with the onset of an El Nino weather pattern. This follows a period of global weather records being broken with a series of natural disasters ranging from heatwaves to floods. Australia is also officially in a positive IOD – meaning the nation is in for warmer, drier conditions for the months ahead, especially for the rest of spring and start of summer.
