San Francisco Giants' Yermin Mercedes hits an RBI single during the fourth inning of the team's baseball game Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday, July 22, 2022, in Los Angeles.outfielder Yermín Mercedes was so dreadful it elicited confused laughter from coach Gabe Kapler — but Mercedes ended up getting the last laugh.
In the fourth inning against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night, Mercedes went to lay down a bunt with runners on first and third. He appeared to change his mind too late, though, and ended up half-hitting, half-bunting the ball into the air. As the pitch glanced off Mercedes' bat and into the stands behind him, both TV announcers and Kapler laughed at the failed attempt.
In the dugout, Kapler could be seen doing the universal gesture for"what the hell was that" while joking with bench coach Kai Correa.
