The Bunny Museum, a beloved rabbit-themed museum in Altadena, California, suffered a devastating loss in the Eaton Fire. Despite the extensive damage, the museum is rebuilding with the help of an overwhelming outpouring of support from around the world.
The Bunny Museum , a whimsical haven dedicated to all things rabbit, has faced a devastating setback with the Eaton Fire that swept through Altadena in early January. The blaze, which consumed most of the museum's extensive collection of over 40,000 rabbit-themed items, left the museum community reeling.
The museum, which relocated to Altadena several years ago after a long run in Pasadena, was known for its charmingly eclectic displays of rabbit dolls, toys, artwork, and countless other rabbit-related treasures. Its founder, Candace Frazee, and her partner, Steve Lubanski, poured their hearts into creating a joyful and unique space that captivated visitors of all ages.Despite the immense loss, the museum's spirit remains unbroken. Frazee and Lubanski have pledged to rebuild on the same land, and their determination has been met with an outpouring of support from around the world. Within days of the fire, donations began pouring in, including eleven rabbit-inspired items from a Pasadena donor. Thousands of emails and messages from individuals and groups expressing their desire to contribute to the restoration have flooded in. As of January 27th, the museum had received over 150 bunny-fied items, with several major collections promised. The generosity extends beyond local donors, with rabbit-themed wonders arriving from Colorado and Illinois, and international shipments are also on their way. The museum is accepting donations of both funds and rabbit-themed items. The address for sending donations is: The Bunny Museum, 2335 E. Colorado Boulevard, Suite 115 #350, Pasadena, CA 91107. To further celebrate the resilience of the museum and its community, a live auction is scheduled for February 16th
