Edgar Marutlulle will step back and resume coaching junior rugby at the Vodacom Bulls, with Jake White to take charge for the remainder of the Currie Cup campaign.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the Blue Bulls Company announced adjustments to its Currie Cup coaching structures for the rest of the 2023 season. These changes are implemented with immediate effect.

Marutlulle was winless after four matches in his first season as head coach at senior level, and White commended his willingness to be part of the solution in helping the franchise turn its season around.“I met with Edgar and he felt that there needed to be action taken, with the union coming first. A perspective that we both share and something I commend him on,” White said.

Marutlulle thanked the organisation for the opportunity to further his skills and welcomed the decision as having the best interests of the organisation at large.
