Jake White is in awe of his Vodacom Bulls backline after their red-hot attacking play sliced through Ulster on Saturday at Loftus Versfeld.

After trailing 9-3 at half time, the Bulls scored four tries in the second half to earn a vital bonus-point win over the Irish visitors and boost their playoff hopes in the Vodacom United Rugby Championship.in the 34-16 triumph“People asked me in the week whether Kurt-Lee’s style will suit this game. He was outstanding. He made a try,” said White.

“People talk about our defence but, flip, our attack was good too. We opened them up with some of the plays we ran. “When we went down the short side when Harold [Vorster] changed direction in a set play, it nearly worked. Madosh got tackled and turned over. That was our attack again, understanding how they defend. We’ve got a good backline now.”

The Bulls director of rugby added: “When you play Cornal [Hendricks] – a winger – at 13 and 12, then we’ve got Lionel [Mapoe] and Morne [Steyn] on the bench, it gives us confidence. The seventh-placed Bulls are now one position and a single point behind old rivals the Stormers in the URC, ahead of next weekend’s crunch clash at Cape Town Stadium.
