Bulldogs player walks out on club as details of brutal training ‘punishment’ emerge
Rugby League Players Association CEO Clint Newtown was quoted by the Telegraph saying: “The RLPA is aware of a matter and we will continue working with the player and his representatives to address it. Once we have completed that process, we will then contact club officials.
Punishments such as fines are common in the NRL for players rule-breaking, with the Telegraph stating that the player in question was subjected to an extended wrestling session as punishment since the team was doing wrestling drills at the time. Meanwhile, a third Bulldogs player - Braidon Burns - could not complete a training session last week due to a hamstring complaint. The Telegraph reports Burns and his agent Allan Gainey met with Bulldogs general manager Phil Gould on Tuesday to discuss concerns he had over training, while the Herald reports the player returned to training on Tuesday.
