The RSPCA want French bulldogs, pugs and bulldogs removed from Crufts

A Northampton bulldog has had three major operations at just 20 months old due to issues with his breathing, eyesight and legs. Buster has had to endure a lot more than other puppies his age have been through.

We’d never go out of our way to buy a bulldog from a breeder because it encourages more breeding, but we knew we’d be happy rescuing one and giving them a second chance at life.

“Along with his eye issues, and the possibility of requiring further knee surgery in the future, like many flat-faced breeds Buster is also prone to soreness in the folds of his skin and around his tail, so we have to keep on top of that as well with regular cleaning and treatments.” People in the East Midlands can show their support for the campaign by signing an open letter to The Kennel Club on the RSPCA website. Emma Slawinski, campaign director at the RSPCA, said: “Featuring brachycephalics at Crufts legitimises their exaggerated features and increases their popularity amongst the public.
