SIBU: A centralized pig farm is being proposed for the central region that aims to prevent the spread of African Swine Fever (ASF).
"I have talked to pig farmers in the central region on how we can centralise the pig farming industry," said Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng at a Media Night and Chinese New Year gathering on Wednesday .
Chieng said he had also deliberated on the matter with the Land and Survey Department on Wednesday afternoon . "I will have to convey their message to the ministry on the centralization of pig farming so that we can avoid the African Swine Fever," he added.The region is now getting supplies of pork from Kuching.
