Years after South Anchorage's Edefuan Ulofoshio walked on to the University of Washington football team, the senior helped guide the Huskies to the 2024 College Football Playoff National Championship Game.
On day 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft, former South Anchorage Wolverine and college national champion runner-up Edefuan Ulofoshio was selected 160th overall by the Buffalo Bills .“Buffalo has been a team I was studying all the time in college,” Ulofoshio said in an interview with media. “We literally took a lot of calls from their defense throughout the year, so when I heard Buffalo it brought a smile to my face. It’s a whole full circle moment.
From Alaska to starting in the college football national championship, Edefuan Ulofoshio could be the state’s next NFL player, Ulofoshio played his freshman year of high school football at South Anchorage before his family moved to Las Vegas, Nev. where he attended Bishop Gorman High School. Starting as a walk-on at the University of Washington, Ulofoshio earned both First Team All-Pac-12 and Second Team All-American Honors by his senior year. He was also listed as a finalist for the Butkus Award, given to the top linebacker at the collegiate level each year. He also aided the Huskies in their run to the 2024 National Championship game, where they would fall to the Michigan Wolverines 34-13.
“That state ... that is where I got the love of the game from, so I wouldn’t be there today if it weren’t for the state of Alaska,” Ulofoshio said. “So it means the world to me that you guys are still cheering me on and watching me, I don’t take any of that lightly.” The player known as “Eddy” now joins a linebacker room alongside former First Team All-Pro and Pro Bowl pick Matt Milano.
