KUALA LUMPUR: One-stop social support centres (OSSC) have been given a RM8mil lifeline under Budget 2023, says Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.
Having been to two OSSCs since her appointment, Nancy said that the RM8mil would be used to upgrade the centres and ensure their effectiveness.
"Whatever we have now needs to be improved, even basic necessities like clean drinking water facilities are sometimes insufficient. "This includes ensuring proper accommodation for victims to stay at the shelter while providing them proper balanced meals. "The RM8mil will also be used to improve our facilities and equipment while ensuring current services like our direct counselling services via bus are able to run smoothly," she told reporters in a press conference on Friday .
She added that while the current allocated budget was reasonable, she hoped that the centres would get more funding in the future.
