Orlando Pirates head coach José Riveiro has provided an update on the club’s new striker Evidence Makgopa... 🧐 Read more here! ➡️ SLSiya

A few days ago, the Siya crew reported that Makgopa is nearing closer to making his debut for Pirates, with Riveiro revealing that the Bafana Bafana striker has been sidelined due to injury.

“He is injured since, I’m not sure, but he is injured,” Riveiro told journalists after Pirates’ hard-fought 1-0 win over Royal AM in a DStv Premiership clash at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.Asked what type of injury Makgopa sustained in training Riveiro said: “that’s private information I can’t.” But the Siya crew revealed that the 22-year-old forward suffered an ankle injury in training and could be ruled out for up to six weeks.

Makgopa remains the only new Pirates player yet to make their debut, as Miguel Timm, Nkosinathi Sibisi, Tapelo Xoki, and Bienvenu Eva Nga have all tasted action under coach Riveiro. And the Pirates tactician admitted that they could have scored more goals against Royal AM after stating his concerns about the unimpressive conversion rate by his team.“We are working on it. At home [against Chippa United], we generated plenty of goal-scoring opportunities and against Swallows as well, but of course, we would like to score more goals. The only thing we can do is to build the confidence of the players,” said the coach.
