Adrian Griffin's hire comes with an endorsement from Giannis Antetokounmpo, sources tell The Athletic. Griffin beat out fellow finalists Kenny Atkinson and Nick Nurse. ShamsCharania, ekoreen and eric_nehm have more on a three-week process:

On Saturday, sources said Nurse pulled out of the Bucks‘ search as the team decided between Griffin and Atkinson and ultimately chose Griffin. Antetokounmpo endorsed the hiring of Griffin, sources added.

Griffin will be the Bucks’ 17th head coach in franchise history and follow Budenholzer, who put up a franchise-best .693 win percentage in the last five seasons in Milwaukee. Griffin, 48, has never previously served as an NBA head coach. After a nine-season NBA playing career, Griffin shifted into a new role when he joined the coaching staff of Bucks head coach Scott Skiles in 2008.

In the last 15 seasons, Griffin has served as an assistant coach for five different teams . For the last five seasons, Griffin has served as the assistant coach for the Raptors.Expectations are incredibly high in Milwaukee. Budenholzer was the franchise’s winningest regular-season coach and led the Bucks as the team won their second championship in franchise history in 2021. That is the standard that will be expected from Griffin as he takes over as coach of the Bucks.
