"We've been working really hard all season long to have a memorable win like that," said 2025 All Big Ten All-Tournament team member Luciana Perry. "To be able to do it against Michigan with an environment like that was amazing." Ohio State beat No. 3 Michigan, 4-3, in a battle of the top two tournament seeds. The final took more than three and a half hours, with the final point decided by a freshman battle featuring Ohio State's Nao Nishino and Michigan's Emily Sartz-Lunde. In the third set, Nishino prevailed 6-4 to clinch the match and the team title. The Buckeyes finally prevailed in their fifth straight meeting with the Wolverines in the Tournament Final. Ohio State lost their last two regular-season meetings with Michigan, enacting some sweet revenge in Ojai, California. "We woke up so early in the fall and in the spring for this. This was our goal. It meant a lot for our team, and I know for the coaches, it meant a lot to them," said Teah Chavez. The Buckeyes turn their attention to completing their next collective goal, winning the program's first-ever national championship. We feel like we can play with anyone in the country," said head coach Melissa Schaub. "Obviously, a lot of things have to go your way. We had a meeting this morning about resetting, so we’re trying to do that right now and make sure we’re ready to go." Ohio State opens NCAA Tournament play in Columbus as the No. 4 seed. The Buckeyes will begin with the MAC Champions, Buffalo, at 1 p.m. Friday, following a first-round match between UIC and Notre Dame at 10 a.m. The first-round winners will face off at 4 p.m. Saturday for a spot in the Super Regionals.
