Mitchell Wasek, son of a Bucee's co-founder, is facing a new felony charge of possessing or promoting child pornography following a search warrant execution at his home.
Mitchell Wasek , 29, the son of Bucee's co-founder Don Wasek, has been charged with third-degree felony possession or promotion of child pornography . A warrant for his arrest was issued on February 27th, and his bond has been set at $50,000, according to court records. This new felony charge stems from a September 2023 residential search warrant executed by the Travis County Sheriff's Office at a Spicewood home.
The search warrant was connected to Wasek's previous invasive visual recording charges. During the search, investigators seized several visual recording and data storage devices from Wasek's room. Subsequent search warrants uncovered possible child sexual assault material (CSAM) on one of the seized devices. Digital forensics analysts found two files suspected to contain CSAM, showcasing images of juvenile females seemingly between five and 18 years old in various stages of undress and involved in sexual acts. These images were then submitted to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) for comparison with known victims in their database. NCMEC identified one juvenile female in an image as a seven-year-old girl who had been previously recorded by a suspect who pleaded guilty in April 2014 to multiple counts related to possessing, producing, and distributing child pornography.This latest charge comes less than a year after Wasek was indicted on multiple counts of felony invasive visual recording in May 2024. Those charges involved 13 separate victims who were allegedly secretly recorded by Wasek over a two-year period. The initial investigation began when a party guest discovered a hidden camera charging port in a bathroom wall at the family's Spicewood home. Witnesses seized the camera, finding it had filmed guests undressed in both the bathroom and bedroom. The affidavit states, 'the videos showed individuals were recorded using toilets, showering, changing clothes, and/or having sex.' Additional recordings were found from other properties Wasek's family owned or resided in, spanning from 2021 to 2023. These properties included locations in Austin, Dallas, and a vacation home in Colorado. Investigators also discovered Wasek's online shopping history included various spy cameras and related accessories. A first court appearance for the new charge has been set for March 19th
