/Gray News) — Buc-ee’s is suing an Ohio-based convenience chain, alleging its moose mascot looks too much like Buc-ee’s famous beaver. Buc-ee’s filed a federal lawsuit Feb. 18 against Coles IP Holdings, LLC, the company that operates the Mickey’s convenience store chain.

Buc-ee’s alleges that the design too closely resembles its beaver mascot. Buc-ee’s also claims in the suit that Mickey’s predominant use of red in signage, uniforms and branding contributes to consumer confusion. The lawsuit centers on Mickey’s rebranding from “Mickey Mart” to “Mickey’s” and an updated logo that Buc-ee’s believes more closely resembles its own. Buc-ee’s previously filed a petition to cancel Mickey’s trademark registrations with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on Aug. 11, 2025.
