The seven-member Korean group kicked off their takeover of the late-night show on Monday, September 28. As many longtime fans noticed, they were prepared to show new and old ARMY alike the full spectrum of their intricate, energetic performance style. And the timing couldn't have been more appropriate:Early on in the first show, the members of BTS — RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook — performed a freshwith a cappella accompaniment from Jimmy and famed house band The Roots.
To close the first night, BTS was reborn into an older era with a rendition of their 2018 hit “Idol," held at Seoul's Gyeongbokgung Palace,. The musicians wore modernized hanboks in a variety of dark shades, and the nighttime glow of the palace gave the performance an ethereal, cinematic feel. The song itself was a significant choice — BTS previously performed “Idol” on Jimmy's show back in 2018, a U.S.
