Bryson DeChambeau wins his second US Open title after Rory McIlroy stumbled on the final three holes.

Rory McIlroy missed the chance to end a 10-year wait for a major title as three bogeys in his final four holes allowed Bryson DeChambeau to snatch the US Open.

However, short par putt misses at 16 and 18 proved terminal with DeChambeau showing his class to make par when in trouble at the last to clinch his second major championship. However, McIlroy's touch on the greens completely deserted him down the stretch as he missed from inside three feet on 16 and then four feet on 18, presenting DeChambeau, playing in the group behind, with the opportunity to seal victory.

As the popular American celebrated wildly amid raucous scenes around the 18th green, a dejected McIlroy watched on from the scoring room before quickly departing with caddie Harry Diamond.Sports content to make you think... or allow you not to. A newsletter delivered each Saturday.
