Bryan Kohberger, the man charged with the murders of four University of Idaho students, has asked a judge to move his trial, arguing that it is impossible for him to get a fair trial in Latah County.Kohberger, 29, is charged with fatally stabbing the students—Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20— at a rental home near the college campus in Moscow, Idaho, in the early morning hours of November 13, 2022.
There is no reasonable belief that media coverage will slow, regardless of how long the case takes to prepare for trial.'Taylor added that Latah County is a 'small, tightly knit community' and that based on survey results, it has 'a prejudgment for conviction and death sentence.'She added that the small size of the county means there are more people connected to the case than in other counties.
