Fernandes has been at the club for over three years and he was unanimously the selection to succeed Maguire.The midfielder also played the most games of any player in Europe's top five leagues last season, playing over 6,000 minutes. "We want to start the season strong. We started with a win and we'll fight every game to win. That's everything that I can promise to everyone, that this team will never surrender and we'll always fight," Fernandes said.
"Trying to be in all the competitions until the end. The approach is always the same, he [Erik ten Hag] is someone who looks at the details, someone who wants us to perform at our best level and he's hungry for more.
