Tommy Rees, the Cleveland Browns tight ends coach, is being considered for the open offensive coordinator role following the dismissal of Ken Dorsey. Rees has a history with the Browns and a successful track record in college football.
Cleveland Browns tight ends coach Tommy Rees is in the running to become the team's offensive coordinator . A league source told ESPN that head coach Kevin Stefanski will interview Rees for the vacancy created by the firing of Ken Dorsey . Rees, 32, has a connection to the Browns dating back to his youth. He served as a ballboy for the team when he was 14 while his father, Bill, worked as the Browns director of player personnel.
Rees recently completed his first year coaching tight ends for the Browns and his first year in the NFL. Prior to that, he was the offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at Alabama under Nick Saban, helping the Crimson Tide win the SEC Championship Game and advance to the College Football Playoffs. He also served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Notre Dame from 2020-2022, where they averaged more than 30 points per game each year and reached the College Football Playoffs in 2020 after an undefeated regular season. Rees has interviewed for head coaching jobs before, including twice for the North Carolina position which ultimately went to Bill Belichick
