tackle James Hudson III posted on Instagram on Thursday he underwent shoulder surgery. Hudson had been dealing with the shoulder injury suffered during the team’s loss to the Giants.
A fourth-round pick in 2021, Hudson has been the Browns' swing tackle since arriving in Cleveland. He has appeared in 49 games and started 17. This season, he did most of his work at left tackle, a position he has played sparingly in the NFL. He started Weeks 1 and 2 at left tackle and was forced into action at right tackle in Week 3 after the Browns benched right tackle Dawand Jones.He once again started at left tackle in Week 4 against the Raiders and played every offensive snap, but re-aggravated the shoulder injury during the Browns' loss.
The Browns have been juggling tackles all season. Left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. missed the first two games of the season before returning and leaving the Browns' loss to the Giants in Week 3. He returned last Sunday against Washington. Meanwhile, Jack Conklin has not made his season debut as he recovers from knee surgery. He appeared set to return against the Giants but was ruled out after suffering a hamstring injury the Friday before the game.
