The Browns added some depth to their edge rush rotation after two of their young edge rushers suffered injuries during Thursday night’s Pro Football Hall of Fame victory.
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Browns added some depth to their edge rush rotation on Monday after two of their young edge rushers -- Alex Wright and Isaiah Thomas -- suffered injuries during Thursday night’s 21-16 victory over the Jets in the Pro Football Hall of Fame preseason opener.
They signed Charles Wiley, who was originally signed as an undrafted rookie by the Ravens last season out of UTSA, and spent time on the practice squads of the Ravens and Giants in 2022. To make room, they waived receiver Ra’Shaun Henry. Wiley joins a group headlined by Myles Garrett, Za’Darius Smith and Ogbo Okoronkwo. Wright and Isaiah both sat out Sunday’s padded practice with injuries suffered Thursday night, and the Browns will know more on Monday about the extent of those injuries. Defensive tackle Maurice Hurst II also sat out Sunday after playing in Thursday’s game.
