After Sunday's NFL games, the Browns officially attained the No. 2 overall pick in this year's draft. Initially projected to have the third overall pick due to their record, the Browns' draft position shifted based on the outcomes of Sunday's games involving the Tennessee Titans and New England Patriots.
Both teams entered Week 18 with a 3-13 record. The Patriots' victory over the Buffalo Bills 23-16 pushed the Browns ahead of them in the draft order. If the Titans had defeated the Texans, the Browns would have secured the No. 1 overall pick. However, a Titans loss resulted in Tennessee claiming the first overall pick. The Browns last held the No. 2 overall pick in 2016, but traded it to the Philadelphia Eagles for multiple draft picks. The last time the Browns made a pick with the No. 2 overall selection was in 1991 when they drafted safety Eric Turner from UCLA. With several areas needing attention, the Browns have the option to either keep the No. 2 pick and select a young player or trade it for additional assets.
