The Cleveland Browns have appointed Mike Bloomgren as their new offensive line coach, replacing the fired Andy Dickerson. Bloomgren, previously the head coach at Rice University, brings extensive experience in pro-style offenses and a focus on player development.
CLEVELAND, Ohio — If the Browns hope to re-create a little of that Bill Callahan magic on their offensive line in 2025, they may have found the right man in Mike Bloomgren , who was hired on Wednesday to replace the fired Andy Dickerson.
What will Browns GM Andrew Berry and head coach Kevin Stefanski do with rare second chance to find franchise QB?“That time trained and instilled a lot of beliefs I have in the position and in the manner in which it should be taught,” Bloomgren said. Bloomgren takes over a line that features some of the best talent in the game in All-Pros Jack Conklin at right tackle, Joel Bitonio at left guard, and Wyatt Teller at right guard. Ethan Pocic also developed into one of the best centers in the NFL under Callahan.
Jones, the Browns' fourth-round pick in 2024 out of Ohio State, will come back in 2025 to try to solidify the left tackle spot. On locker clean-out day on Sunday, veteran offensive linemen such as Conklin and Teller called for a return to the wide-zone running scheme that had served them well over the previous four years, and to the run overall.
“And there were games in my career where I pulled eight or 10 times in a game, so it was different, for sure, but I think that’s where the strength of offense is and we can build it up, get the right people in the right position.”
