What Teller has found is a place he calls an “easy transplant.” He can drive 30 minutes and feel like he’s back home in Virginia. He loves the hunting and fishing and seeing the cliffs at the Rocky River.

“I wish he gave me a little bit more time so I could have enjoyed it,” Teller said, before adding emphatically, “He earned it, full fact.” In some ways, Teller is following in the footsteps of Bitonio, who followed in the footsteps of Joe Thomas before him -- offensive linemen beloved by Browns fans who aren’t from here but found a home here.

,” Teller said. “It’s a special place and I think there’s nowhere else like this in the world.”“You’ll see as many 73 jerseys as you do any other jersey and I think that’s special, obviously, because of what Joe Thomas has been able to do, but also who he is as a person,” Teller said. “What Joel is able to do, but also who he is as a person.” Teller and his wife, Carly, bought a house here and their first child is due on Christmas Eve. They spent their entire offseason in Cleveland with Teller working out at the team’s facility until he came down with strep throat a month before training camp.Teller was born in northern Virginia, just outside Washington D.C., and his grandfather lived in Columbus, but he didn’t know much about Cleveland before he was traded here -- other than it gets cold. What he’s found is a place he calls an “easy transplant.” He can drive 30 minutes and feel like he’s back in Virginia. He loves the hunting and fishing and seeing the cliffs at the Rocky River. He feels a connection to Browns fans, spending time at camp signing autographs, and getting as much face-to-face interaction with fans as he can. Especially after two years when COVID-19 made it impossible at training camp. His love for the fans is reciprocated. “I think that it’s easy to be like, ‘Oh, well, we love Wyatt because Wyatt’s just like any of us. He probably grew up at Westlake High School or whatever, Olmsted Falls High School,’” Teller said.Teller said it’s likely he and Carly will ultimately settle back in Virginia one day, close to family. Even when he does, Cleveland won’t be forgotten. They have found security here. They’re starting a family here. After a little uncertainty, they’ve found a home in Northeast Ohio. It’s like he’s been here all along. If you or a loved one has questions and needs to talk to a professional about gambling, call the Ohio Problem Gambling Helpline at 1-800-589-9966 or the National Council on Program Gambling Helpline at 1-800-522-4700.
