After a dismal 3-14 season, the Cleveland Browns have parted ways with offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey. The team struggled to score consistently and ranked among the league's worst in offensive production. Head coach Kevin Stefanski acknowledged the need for change and emphasized finding a new offensive identity.
turned heads last season when, after a dramatic run to the playoffs, they reconfigured many of the key pieces of their offensive staff, most notably moving on from Alex Van Pelt as offensive coordinator and replacing him with Ken Dorsey .
“Just the bottom line, I want to go in a different direction,” Stefanski said. “We need to improve, as everybody knows, on the offensive side of the ball and that’s what we plan to do.” “I think that’s what Coach Stefanski’s comfortable with, the marriage of the run and the pass, you take your shots with some play-action heavy things,” Bitonio said. “I think it’s what we’ve had the most success under, and I think it’s what Coach Stefanski is most comfortable with. The line was kind of built that way as well.”
For the first time with Stefanski as head coach, the Browns ranked outside of the Top 10 in rushing attempts. They’ve been outside the Top 5 only one other season, when they rushed the ball 485 times in 2021, 94 times more than they ran it this season. “A lot of turnovers, a lot of presnap penalties,” wide receiver Jerry Jeudy said when asked what went wrong this season. “That’s the two biggest things that I can think of right now.”
