The brothers get an additional meeting Sunday night when the Bengals and Ravens square off in a wild card matchup. Rivalries and competitiveness aside, the moment isn’t too big for either brother.
The first time both brothers were supposed to play each other was postponed back in October. When the Bengals traveled to Baltimore to play the Ravens in Week 5, Justice missed that game due to a nagging hamstring injury. However, that didn’t stop their parents from traveling to Baltimore all the way from Tulsa to watch their teams play in prime-time.
“We’re always competitors, like whether we’re on the same team or different teams, you know, we were kids playing basketball in the front yard or something like that,” Justice told cleveland.com in a phone interview. “You love your brother with the end of the day. Like, I’m always winning,” he said with a chuckle.
Dax, meanwhile, shipped himself all the way up north to play for Jim Harbaugh at Michigan. His efforts his junior earned him Big Ten first team all-conference honors, thus leading him to forego his senior year to declare for last year’s NFL Draft. The Bengals drafted him with the 31st overall pick of the draft.
Dax, who’s been a backup to Jessie Bates this season, played some snaps at safety but has mostly been used on special teams. At one point during last weekend’s game, Justice was the gunner on special teams and got past Dax for a tackle for their most memorable moment of the game.
