The 44-year-old man originally appeared in court charged with unlawful killing over the 2022 death, but this was downgraded to a lesser charge.
Linton Patrick Sampi , 44, has been found guilty of dangerous driving causing death after running over his partner while drunk in 2022.
Linton Patrick Sampi's trial began on September 2 in Broome Supreme Court, and he originally faced one count of unlawfully killing another under circumstances that did not constitute murder., the court heard Sampi was "severely" drunk when he drove over his partner, who the ABC has chosen not to name for cultural reasons, in the early hours of March 17, 2022.
After a party at the pair's home on D'Antoine Street in Broome, Sampi and the woman had an altercation, which the court heard was witnessed by her children, who were aged eight and nine at the time. Magistrate Joseph McGrath granted Sampi bail, with conditions banning him from driving or contacting any of the witnesses, including the deceased woman's two children.
