Over the course of three consecutive weekends earlier this summer, Brooklyn residents had Pride flags and signs stolen.
BROOKLYN , Ohio -- “We have filed charges on two juvenile males in Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court for the thefts,” Brooklyn Police Chief Scott Mielke said.In July, the police chief said his department was actively investigating the thefts of the Pride flags using “all types of resources from old-fashioned surveillance techniques to video and camera technology.”
The Pride flag incidents come less than a year after a Brooklyn High School football coach last fall resigned after his team used That’s when a discussion of creating a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Commission began with city leaders. The legislation -- later changed to the Inclusion and Belonging Commission -- was approved by Brooklyn City Council but subsequently vetoed by the mayor, who called it “polarizing.”
