Brooklyn man accused of biting NYPD officer’s fingertip off after high-speed chase in Queens
A Brooklyn man was indicted in Queens on Wednesday for allegedly biting off a police officer’s fingertip after leading officers on a high-speed car chase last month, prosecutors said.
“The rule of law, and the officers who enforce it, will be respected,” Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said in a statement. “The defendant is accused of recklessly putting countless lives at grave risk, injuring a motorist and causing a grievous permanent injury to a police officer. The dangerous lawlessness seen here simply will not be tolerated or excused.”According to the indictment, a police officer had tried to pull Cruz over on Sept.
The car chase ended on the Grand Central Parkway service road, where Cruz slammed into an unmarked police car that was set up as part of a barricade to stop him, the indictment said. Three cops inside were able to jump out before impact.
