Brooklyn Beckham 's DoorDash advert has sparked a huge backlash from fans who have labelled the aspiring chef 'classless' and 'a bully' after he made reference to his bitter row with his parents in the campaign.
The full version of the commercial has been released at the close of the England World Cup match on Wednesday night, after being accused of 'cashing in' on his family feud with the campaign. Brooklyn, 27, sparked huge backlash on Monday when he made reference to his bitter row with his parents in the teaser clip for the campaign, and was accused of still profiting off the Beckham name despite saying he wants nothing to do with his parents David, 51, and Victoria, 52.
The full version of the commercial has sparked even fiercer backlash with followers commenting in their droves under the Instagram clip.
'When you become a parent, then you will understand the pain,' wrote one. 'For someone who claims his parents are ruling his life, you are definitely cashing in on your father's hard work repeatedly,' added another. Others were in disbelief that Brooklyn and his team thought the ad would be a PR win.
'Who approved this creative?!? ' asked one fan. 'This is such a miss and not landing at all. You can't complain away every fibre of your name when you feel, but benefit from it in the public when it serves you.
Bad form, and bad taste that did not land effectively to benefit the end goal. One other follower commented: 'Omg I don't normally comment but this is extreme! Understand that he stands by his wife which I have high respect for but this isn't a joke anymore and I truly feel sorry for @victoriabeckham and @davidbeckham.
' 'They DON'T deserve this much hate. They have done their best as his parents which is obviously not enough but he ought to keep his hate to himself. Seriously stop being such a bully! In the complete sponsored clip, Brooklyn said: 'You're probably wondering why I'm watching the FIFA World Cup 2026 from home… it's a long story.
' 'These can go to someone...else,' he told a Doordash employee as he handed over a bag of tickets, adding: 'Hey, put them somewhere fun! ' The caption on the post read: 'Asked @doordash to go drop my FIFA World Cup 2026 tickets for you guys... happy hunting Follow @doordash's account to see clues for where you can find them xx #DoorDashPartner #DeliverUsToFutbol #FifaWorldCup2026.
David and Victoria, who have not spoken to their eldest son for over a year, were 'devastated' to see the advert and his sister Harper and grandparents are also said to be 'inconsolable'. One of the UK's leading PR experts said the campaign, which has been posted to his Instagram, will leave companies 'aghast' and all but end any chance of a reconciliation with his parents.
Andy Barr, Head of Brand Communications at Season One Comms, said: 'This could well be the beginning of the end for Brand Brooklyn.
'Brands will look on aghast at the negative public reaction to how he has used his family feud in this way and will want to steer clear. ' Sean O'Meara, managing director of strategic communications consultancy Essential Content, called it a PR 'disasterclass' by Brooklyn. He said: 'It looks cheap. Sly public digs at family members, especially when the public figure is getting paid to do it in an advert, never land well.
This makes him look petty and to an extent, arrogant. Does Brooklyn need the money so badly that he'll air his family's dirty laundry in public? Brooklyn is set to cash in on his deal with DoorDash, despite already having an individual net worth of £7.4million. In the teaser post sponsored by the delivery firm, he seems to relish the opportunity to hit back at his family, with the video containing a number of seemingly hidden messages.
While Brooklyn has been wearing the £250,000 Patek Philippe Nautilus watch gifted to him by his father, who played in three World Cups in 1998, 2002 and 2006, he shakes off this association by pointedly placing a new one on his coffee table. The advert has sparked a huge backlash from fans, who have labelled Brooklyn 'classless' and 'a bully'.
