The Brooklyn bar owner who blew the whistle on an alleged shakedown from associates connected to City Hall and the NYPD promising to disappear police problems in exchange for money is meeting with federal authorities on Monday, News 4 has learned.
"He just said he was an assistant of Eric Adams. He said he knows people and he dropped the Eddie Caban name because I guess he is the NYPD commissioner and I was having problems with the NYPD," Kelly said. James Caban, an ex-cop, is the twin brother of Edward Caban, the NYPD commissioner who recently resigned.
"If you have a license to serve alcohol, and it was summertime and community board knew we were going to Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night events," Kelly said. Edward Caban's attorneys tell NBC New York,"We have been informed by the government that he is not a target of any investigation being conducted by the Southern District of New York, and he expects to cooperate fully with the government.
