A house in the Bronx notorious for gang activity, including drug and gun dealings, was seized by federal agents on Thursday. The house on Decatur Avenue presents a desolate picture with its garage door blown open and an upstairs window shattered. A neighbor, Abdul Rajib, recounts seeing police arrive at the house a few days prior, slamming the door shut from the outside.
This incident marked the culmination of a joint operation involving police and federal agents targeting a local street gang allegedly operating the house as a drug den, located just steps away from a school. The criminal complaint uncovers a grim inventory of the drug trade. Cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, psilocybin mushrooms, and marijuana, along with drug packaging materials disguised to resemble candy, were discovered. A significant amount of cash was also found inside the premises. Prosecutors allege that the group used the house to film so-called 'drill rap videos,' which were posted on social media and effectively advertised their illicit wares for sale in the open, just a few blocks away.Upon executing a search warrant, agents found no suspects present. Consequently, they are pursuing the seizure of the house itself. Agents have filed a criminal forfeiture complaint, aiming to transform the property back into a safe and habitable dwelling, rather than a haven for illegal substances. Neighbor Glenni Santos expresses the sentiments of the community, stating that honest and hardworking residents of the area do not deserve to be subjected to such activities. Neighbors have grown accustomed to the constant comings and goings at the house throughout the day and night, but with the new federal initiative against drug trafficking, the once-active hub has fallen silent
