Police said the attack occurred at about 2 p.m. on April 8, while most New Yorkers had their eyes on the sky for the solar eclipse, aboard a Bx22 bus traveling along East Fordham Road approaching Marion Avenue in Fordham Heights. According to police sources, the victim, a 60-year-old man, began playfully drumming his fingers on his lap, which prompted the suspect, a younger man, to become agitated. The perpetrator then confronted the commuter and an argument ensued.
Seconds later, law enforcement sources noted, the suspect produced a screwdriver and stabbed the 60-year-old in the head.
