Though it appears James is in the clear, there have been more than a few people speculating about his basketball career.
As part of a program for prospective NBA players several months ago James underwent a heart screening, according to a CNN source. That screening included a transthoracic echocardiogram to look at blood flow through the heart and heart valves, and an EKG, a recording of the heart’s electrical activity. Both of James’ tests came back normal, another good sign.
“If they don’t find an exact cause and you don’t really know what happened. And you have to have that discussion of what exactly are the risks of going back out there and playing,” Sutterer said. “ extremely serious situation we’re dealing with, then legitimately something that affects the rest of his career depending on what we discover and depending on what they have to do about it.”
“I just said, ‘Any questions you have you can ask me because I can probably answer them for you,’” O’Neal said of his message.“When am I gonna be able to get back? I can’t even walk right now, what is my future looking like?” O’Neal recalled questioning. “That’s when I kind of realized, I was like ‘I don’t know if basketball is ever going to be an option again.”
“If you make it out of this, you’ll be the baddest man on the planet,” Shareef said of Shaq’s advice. “That kind of just builds a fire up in you and makes you want to go back and get it.”
