The last time the Chargers played at home, the Jacksonville Jaguars stomped them, 38-10. It was a shock. But Justin Herbert and Co. have grinded out two road wins since then ... even if coach Brandon Staley’s bizarre decision to throw on fourth down late in last week’s game befuddled many, including injured receiver Keenan Allen.
The dynamic quarterback has remained on the Chargers’ injury reports but listed as a full participant in each practice. In the past two wins over the Houston Texans and Cleveland Browns, Herbert has completed 67.1% of his throws for 568 yards, three TDs and no interceptions . Melvin Gordon to score TD This isn’t what the Broncos had in mind when plotting out their season, but the reality now is that Javonte Williams isn’t walking through that door. The No. 1 running back is out for the year with a torn ACL.
After last week’s debacle and Wilson’s season-long deficiency throwing in the red zone, do you really think the Broncos will keep going back to that well without changing it up? Yes, the prospect of a lost fumble killing a would-be touchdown makes this nervy, but we’ll still look for Gordon to reach the end zone come Monday night.
